RBS (Relocatable Building Systems) provides portable and modular buildings, delivering bespoke solutions for temporary on-site building requirements in multiple sectors - from construction to commerce - across the UK.

 

At Westbrook & Bell, we’ve enjoyed working with the RBS team for many years.  This time, the company needed to achieve Building Regulations standards for a 1,560sqm (52 bay), second-hand, single-storey office building.  Technically, the building didn’t need to meet the regulations; however, the end client (Costain Ltd.) wanted to be sure its site offices for the A19 improvement project in Newcastle-upon-Tyne met current standards.  

 

We started by gathering all the relevant information from the original building application, which we used to create revised drawings for the new layout.  Our new construction drawings and documentation for the refurbishment showed physical build details, M&E layout and fire details, which the team at RBS used as an accurate working build specification.  We provided U-value calculations and a design SBEM to evidence the building’s compliance with current standards.  Working together, we helped RBS develop the design, and provided technical support to supplement both the internal office team and the construction team on site.  We also produced a comprehensive O&M manual.

The building was re-located, reconfigured and refurbished on time and to budget.  The end-user client was happy with the design, build and installation standards we achieved.
