Expert advice and support to resolve
a serious and significant issue
National Grid had sourced a refurbished two-storey modular building for office accommodation at one of its project sites in South Yorkshire. But only 12 months after installation the building developed a severe mould problem – the ground floors were actually collapsing – which is when National Grid turned to Westbrook & Bell for help and advice.

The organisation commissioned us to deliver a full technical investigation, a detailed report on the defects which were causing the issue, and informed, professional recommendations to ensure the proposed repairs would fix the problem fully. We needed to identify solutions which would result in a building that could achieve the expected design life and performance.
After an initial site visit to assess the situation, we planned and prepared for a thorough investigation. With full access to the building, and using all the specialist equipment necessary, we carried out intrusive investigations – identifying, examining and measuring issues with the walls, floors, ceilings and roof.
Our comprehensive report and recommendations enabled National Grid to seek rectification and redress. The building has been satisfactorily repaired and is now in use.
