Achieving approval from major warranty providers
Achieving approval by major warranty providers is essential to the success of any housing system. No warranty = no mortgages = no buyers, simple as that!
Prime Structures was a relatively new business and a new client to Westbrook & Bell. Based in Lancashire, the company had developed a volumetric modular, light steel housing system and built four demonstration houses, which had proved successful.

With plans for a further 12 houses well underway, Prime Structures needed a full technical manual to support approval by major warranty providers.
Having devised and agreed a format to document the system clearly and logically, we collected all the available information for assessment. That process identified gaps in information, elements of the product and procedures which needed addressing before applying for warranty.
We worked alongside the Prime Structures’ in-house technical team to develop solutions which ‘filled the gaps’ and resolved any issues identified, providing additional technical capacity at this critical stage.
Finally, we collated all internal data, obtained and incorporated information from external suppliers, drafted and edited the technical manual to final approved version, submitted the completed document and resolved issues raised by warranty providers.
We achieved acceptance for warranties from both Premier Warranty and the NHBC.
It took 12 months to collate the information, fill the gaps, write the manual and obtain acceptance. The biggest variable with this type of activity is the gaps which need filling and how quickly that can be achieved. Our combination of engineering and commercial expertise enables us to work across disciplines and provide extra capacity where and when needed.
